Single Serving meals
Pack dry food, like oats or trail mix, in single-meal sized containers. Not only will this help you keep track of how much food you have left, but if mice get into your food bag over night you know which food is still good. Having to throw away 5 days’ breakfast because a mouse took a few bites can ruin your trip. Zip lock bags work well and can double up as trash bags afterwards.
Adjust the fit of your back pack
By simply tightening your pack in the correct sequence, you can drastically change how your back pack carries. Follow this order for no more painful shoulders or chafed hips.
